Dr. Fresh Donates to Haitian Relief

It's thousands of miles from Cypress and Buena Park to Haiti's earthquake-ravaged shores, but that hasn't stopped area residents and businesses from contributing to the relief efforts.
Thirteen-year-old Kristen Herrero of Cypress held a bake sale with the help of some friends and her mother that raised $366. Herrero, Brittany Tran, 13 of Garden Grove, and Torey Ichien, 13 of Cypress, donated the money to the Salvation Army. HELP FROM BUSINESS
On Friday, executives with Buena Park-based personal product manufacturer Dr. Fresh Inc. announced that they will donate 50,000 Infectiguard Surgical Face Masks and 5,000 units of Infectiguard Hand Sanitizer to the Red Cross to aid in Haitian earthquake relief efforts. Fresh water is scarce, so waterless hand sanitizers can bridge the gap when traditional hand washing is not possible. Doctors and nurses have to treat thousands of patients with open wounds, and need protection when moving from one patient to the next. "With increasing public health concerns including poor air quality, the proliferation of bacteria, and lack of water, something as simple as masks and hand sanitizers can help both earthquake survivors and relief workers," said Puneet Nanda, founder of Dr. Fresh, Inc.
